20 Aug -- Moving In

Ahhhh, I love the smell of cardboard in the morning.

Our storage shipment from North Carolina arrived on Tuesday. We got to work organizing those things and then were blasted with the huge shipment from Korea. Now I feel like I'm swimming in a sea of junk that I wish would just disappear. I love our house, don't get me wrong, but living in a one-story made unpacking so much easier. 3 stories is just a pain (And I didn't have to carry the heavy stuff!)

How can we hold on to so much stuff when I feel like we're constantly getting rid of things? What a materialistic person I feel like, looking around my house at the boxes and boxes of stuff. I've realized I hold on to so many things for the "what if" factor.

"What if 154 children show up at my door and ask for a sippy cup of juice? I need those 154 cups, just in case"

"What if we aquire 14 more beds? I'll just hold on to every set of sheets I've ever bought, just in case"

"What if I decide to take on a Cookie Crunch all by myself and decide to bake 15,000 cookies? I have just the right number of cookie sheets! So what if they won't fit into my Easy Bake Oven of an oven"

"I need those 17 blankets for the back of our car just in case we get caught in a blizzard and I have managed to fit 16 other people in our Maxima"

*Sigh*, okay, back to storing away all 23 "over the door" hooks that never seem to fit on any door to any house we've ever lived in (Surely they'll fit on the doors at our next house!).

Girl you have no idea how familiar and sad this sounds...my FB page says how I wish I had a garage for all the stuff I have!! ;)

Yay, I love it when you post! I only have one question: I'm pretty sure you don't have enough stuff; how are the thrift stores there??

Right back atcha. I just got shipment 3 yesterday. Just when I thought I was coming out from under the flood, there's an undersea earthquake in Korea that results in a tidal wave on my front lawn.

throw that stuff out girlfriend! You'll feel free! If you haven't used it in a year, pitch it or give it away. If you really end up needing sippy cups....just go buy some :-)
