9 Apr -- Berlin, Germany, Day 1

We just had a three day weekend so we set off for Berlin.  We set a world record and as a family of 5, we were out of the house by 7:30am!  Can you believe it?!

Anna at Checkpoint Charlie.  No, we did not name Charlie after this historical landmark.

Our attempt to add to the crazy artwork in the streets.

This is what is called the "Topography of Terror."  This was the headquarters of the SS during WWII.  After the war ended, they tore the buldings down and left the rubble as a reminder and never built on the site again.  Now they are adding a small museum to walk thru with some details of the SS history.

Charlie was PSYCHED to see what is left of the wall.

Good ole Potsdam Plaza.

Classic 'hide-and-go-seek.'
