8 Dec -- Falling off the Wagon

They say everyone has a set back during recovery. It seems I've hit mine. Before I left Korea, I had 8 strollers. Yes, 8. They were parked like a fleet at the back of my living room. I had a use and excuse for each of them. Before we moved, I downsized and when we arrived in Germany I sold one more and found myself at 2 strollers (well, technically 3, but the Sit N Stroll just hasn't sold yet, I promise). We were getting by just fine with our Maclaren and Phil and Ted's and I wasn't feeling the urges to shop around or sneak "internet browse" in the evenings when Dan was at work.

But then, on a whim last week, I fell into a routine that I thought I had grown out of. I was browsing on Ramstein yardsales when I came across a vision that just grabbed me. A Peg Perego Pliko P3 for $50. It had been up for 2 weeks and no one had grabbed this deal?! I immediately emailed the seller without thinking and low and behold it was still available and in "Excellent Used Condition".

After a particularly enjoyable Christmas party on Saturday night, when Dan was enjoying the after effects of some fine German beer, I sprung the question. All I needed was the slightest nod of agreement and I could have this stroller for my own.

Yesterday, armed with my GPS, a good friend and lots of snacks and DVDs for the drive, we headed to Kaiserslautern to pick up my newest thrill.

I assume it was fate that brought us together and not a weakness on my part. After all, the lady who sold it to me lives a mere 2 minute drive from our old house ('95-'97) Am Blutacker Strasse. So after picking up the prize, we stopped by my old stomping grounds and I got a picture of me taken in front of our house. I have a lot of fond memories from there. Ice skating on the frozen streets during an ice storm, playing with our Bernese Mountain Dog, Liberty and later our golden retriever, Justice, in the backyard. It was the perfect way to top off a brilliant day.

Unfortunately I used, "But Anna Jane has one!" too many times. And now Cory's in to me with baby carriers and strollers....

Haha~ Love it! Great deal for $50! And, right near your old house, how fun! You know, there were FIVE flights to Germany this week. Man, I wish I had the "guts" to go :-)

It was surely fate that led you to that stroller. You were meant to have it just so you could go visit your old stomping grounds.
