8 - 15 May -- Flying an A-10 from Germany to Arizona

I volunteered to fly an A-10 from Germany to Arizona.  We arrived in Germany on May 11th.  The squadron in Germany, our last assignment, is closing.  :(

 Ahhh Deutschland!

The 81st Fighter Squadron had a great dinner to "farewell" the squadron.

It was great to see friends from our Germany assignment.

We departed for the Azores on 11 May.  It was about a 6 hour flight.  Here we are eating cheesy swordfish at Pescadors.

Our tanker is in the distance.

 Goodbye land!

We flew from the Azores to Andrews Air Force Base on May 13th.  Andrews is just outside Washington DC.

Some politicians talking about immigration reform.

Probably the highlight of the day!  Somebody drove in CHiPs police cars for the police celebration.

I met up with a buddy from Penn State, Tom Conley!

On May 15th we flew from Andrews to Tucson.

 The Mississippi River.

One of our many air refuelings of the trip.
